On May 15, 2019, from 17h to 20h, was held the first legal training under the title “What are my rights as a craftsman and an artisan” organized by the Creative Macedonia Institute. The training was led by Mr. Arsenija Dejanoska Saraginovska, a lawyer whose work focuses mainly on commercial law, civil law, labor relations, out of court law and administrative procedures in accordance with the needs of clients.

The training was attended by registered craftsmen and artisans who wanted to get acquainted with their rights and obligations. The participants were informed about the advantages and disadvantages of being a craftsman or an artisan, the conditions that they should fulfill, the manner of legal earnings, the payment of taxes to the state, the possibility to hold trainings or train popularly called apprentices.

It was pointed out to the craftsmen to what they should pay special attention to in order to avoid possible charges.

In addition, questions were also asked about exporting the crafts abroad or selling them online, whether they are allowed to hire people in need of help, how to promote themselves legally online, how to formulate an agreement between two individuals or an individual and companies.

One of the more interesting or more important questions was: “what in the case of pregnancy, illness or death, how do they or their family members exercise their right to compensation”? Something that needs to be worked on in our country and in the craft chambers, because at the moment the only answer to this question is “temporary stopping the activity of the craftsman”

Many questions were asked and many answers were received, but many questions remained to be answered in some future occasion.

The conclusion at the end of this training was that more training like this was needed, as well as the presence of tax experts. The general conclusion of the training was that craft chambers exist for craftsmen, and not vice versa, and that work must be done to promote the rights of craftsmen and also that they need to be better informed, as well as looking for a solution that will allow employees to be able to register themselves as craftsmen in order to generate additional income in a legal way, and not to be a part of the gray economy.

Until the next training!
