On 09.09.2018, at Hotel Continental, the event “Knitting in the public V.3”, organized by Aleksandra and Cvete, was supported by Creative Macedonia. The event was attended by more than 15 people, from different ages, from 8 to 82, but connected with a common thread – love for knitting.
The purpose of this event, the third in a row, is the knitting of squares and their joining, in order to get the final products that will be intended for the children most in need.
Three hours of socializing, filled with knitting, fun, advice. A small escape from everyday life, a return to tradition and to what our grandmothers taught us. Individual creativity that through knitting needles is transformed into a colorful masterpiece. And all these united forces for a humanitarian goal. An example that we can have fun at the same time and be human.
“The idea comes from the world-wide initiative Knit-a-square, donating more than 84,000 blankets to orphans and children from vulnerable categories.
We wanted Macedonia to be part of this initiative. On the trays we organize, we collect and knit cubes, which we then bond and form blankets. Then those blankets will be donated to the children they need. Now we are in the phase of forming the products, ie the final products “- said the organizers, Aleksandra Stefanovska and Cvet Mickovska, who also the admins of the group ” Knitted Squares “.
